A New Chapter in a 1922 Home
The garden and back of the house.
If you’ve ever been in an old house, you know it can feel soulful. Wood floors creak underfoot while crowned windows let in a timeless light. A pocket door might stick or a crack may peek through the plaster, but the walls stand with decades of stories. Every old house creates its own "patina.” A patina that says, “Despite the hardships, I’m still here.” Kind of like the human spirit.
So today, I’m thrilled to welcome you to my new venture, Jardin & Patina.
What is Jardin & Patina?
Jardin & Patina is more than just a name; it’s a philosophy. It’s the intersection of the garden (Jardin) and the soul of the past (Patina). It’s my "sanctuary" where I share the stories of our 1922 home, the joyful rhythms of our garden, and the art and antiques that grow out of both.
Under this new roof, you will find two distinct spaces that represent the "New" and the "Old" in my world:
The Art of the Garden
For decades, I worked as a gardener, designing gardens and sometimes maintaining them for clients, but in recent years, my body has wanted me to slow down. The knees and hands prefer rest. And so, my work has evolved from designing and maintaining gardens to designing handmade art that reminds me of a garden.
These pieces are my way of capturing the fleeting beauty of nature and turning it into something permanent—modern relics inspired by the traditional French herbier.
The Curated Past
I’ve always adored old objects with nature’s motifs. The soft rose on a plate, a soaring bird on a lamp, a moody landscape in a painting. Now, after years of collecting for my own home, I’m bringing these pieces to you. They’re chosen to offer that sought-after sense of history and "art de vivre" for your home.
Why the Change?
I believe that a home shouldn't feel decorated; it should feel gathered. By bringing my art and vintage finds together under the Jardin & Patina name, I can better share how these elements live together. Whether you’re here for advice about gardening or to find a one-of-a-kind piece for your mantle, I hope this space inspires you to find beauty in the things that last.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I can't wait to show you what's blooming in the garden and what’s arriving in the shop.
